LUNCHTIME FORUM
"Flood
of June 2005"
In June 2005, flooding occurred in most of the southern half
of Alberta, causing millions of dollars in damages. The provincial government
alone has pledged $55 million in disaster relief to cover uninsurable items.
Were the people of Alberta caught off guard? Were the appropriate agencies prepared?
What was happening behind the scenes as the flooding developed?
Ray Keller, Meteorologist, Alberta Environment, will
present how Alberta Environment’s
River Forecasting Section was involved, provide an explanation of how the June
2005 flood developed, explain how the communities were prepared, and show some
intriguing photographs of the June 2005 flood in central Alberta.
This presentation may be of interest specifically to those members who are
involved in civil, municipal, and environmental engineering, and generally to
all members.
