Lunchtime Forum
- Central Alberta Branch’s series of lunchtime
events, held every first Tuesday of the month -
Red Deer’s Water Treatment
Plant Improvements”
November
1, 2005
Drinking water standards in Alberta continue
to be improved and technology to meet these improvements is being incorporated
in water treatment plants across the province. The City of Red Deer is
no exception, where recent improvements include the installation of the “actiflo”™ ballasted
flocculation-clarificationsystem and an ultra-violet disinfection system.
Pervez Sunderani, P.Eng., Municipal Engineer,
Alberta Environment, will present a brief background on the source water used
for the City of Red Deer, followed by an introduction to the processes used to
purify and disinfect water in Red Deer. This includes the low lift pump
and raw water screening, coagulation, flocculation, clarification, filtration
and disinfection.
This presentation may be of interest specifically
to those members who are involved in municipal engineering, and generally to
all members.
