APEGGA'S SERVICE AWARDS


 

RETIRING BRANCH CHAIR

"Awarded to a Branch Chair upon retirement as Chair."

A plaque with the following inscription:

"Presented to (name) in recognition of your contribution as Chair (name of Branch)."

is presented by the President to the Past Chair during the Annual President's visit.

 

RETIRING MEMBERS OF COUNCIL

"Awarded to each member of Council on completion of his/her term of office."

A plaque with an appropriate inscription is presented at the luncheon held in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting.

 

RETIRING MEMBERS OF BOARD OF EXAMINERS

"Awarded to each member of the Board on completion of his/her term(s) of appointment."

A plaque with an appropriate inscription is presented at a Council dinner.

 

RETIRING PRESIDENT

"Awarded to the retiring President on completion of his/her term of office."

A glass-enclosed "Past President's Plaque" with appropriate inscriptions and large bronze logo are presented by the incoming President at the luncheon held in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting.

 

VOLUNTARY SERVICE AWARD

Presented in recognition of six years of dedicated voluntary service to the affairs of the Association.

Members who have served on APEGGA Boards or Committees for six years, or who have been involved in six activities in committee work (one activity being equivalent to one year) are eligible for consideration. "One time" committees, such as Ballot Counting and Nominating Committees, should not be counted as committee activity. Considerable merit on the part of the candidate in his service to the Association is a primary consideration in selection.

Persons who have received the Charlesworth Award, have been Councilors, are Honorary Life Members, or have sat on the Board of Examiners within six years are not eligible for the Voluntary Service Award.

Candidates for this award are approved by the Honours & Awards Committee.

The awards are normally presented at District and Branch meetings.

 

LIFE MEMBERSHIP

25(1) Council, in its discretion by majority vote, may confer life membership in the Association upon any professional member who:

(a) has been a professional member for 25 or more years; or has held equivalent registration in a jurisdiction recognized by the Association, and professional membership totaling a minimum of 25 years, of which at least the last 10 years have been with the Association, and

(b) has retired from the practice of the profession.

(2) Notwithstanding Section 25(1), Council, in its sole discretion, may confer life membership in the Association upon any professional member it deems worthy.

(3) Subject to Section 25(1), life members retain all oft the obligations, duties and privileges of professional membership and pay annual fees as may be specified by council."

Life membership can be conferred by Council at any time, not just once a year. Eligible APEGGA members should contact the Director of Registration and request Life Member Status.

This award/recognition is administered by the Registration Department of APEGGA.

The certificates are to be dated with the date of Council approval.

Life Memberships are presented at special dinner meetings for Life Members held in Edmonton and Calgary.

 

STUDENT UNION/SOCIETY PRESIDENT

Awarded in recognition of contribution to the outgoing society president in engineering, geology and geophysics at the University of Alberta and University of Calgary.

This award is administered by the Past-President's Society.
