Appendix A

 

DEFINITIONS


1. OWNER

The person, company or other entity who controls the property under consideration and has the authority of ownership.


2. PRIME CONSULTANT

The Professional Engineer or Architect under whose overall direction and control construction drawings and specifications for the proposed project are prepared and stamped.


3. DESIGNER

The Registered Professional Engineer or Architect under whose supervision and control the design, construction drawings and specifications for the proposed building project are prepared and stamped.


4. PROFESSIONAL ENGAGED TO REVIEW DURING CONSTRUCTION

The Professional or Firm engaged in accordance with the Alberta Building Code to determine whether or not construction conforms to design.


5. CONTRACTOR

The person, company or other entity who contracts to carry out the intent of the construction drawings and documents for the project.


6. AUTHORITY

The person appointed by a Municipality or the Province as an inspector authorized under the Uniform Building Standards Act with responsibility for enforcement of the Alberta Building Code.


7. MANUFACTURER

The person, company or other entity who designs, fabricates and supplies Premanufactured Building Components and accessories.


8. DISTRIBUTOR

The person, company or other entity who represents the manufacturer of Premanufactured Building Components as a sales organization.


9. PREMANUFACTURED BUILDING COMPONENTS

Premanufactured Building Components are plant manufactured in whole or in part for a building project, with minimal site component fabrication required.


10. CODE

The current edition of the Alberta Building code proclaimed under the Uniform Building Standards Act.


11. REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER OR ARCHITECT

Professional member of the Association of Professional Engineer, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) and/or the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA).
