Texas Licensing Starts Soon,
Exam Exemption Deadline Looms

APEGGA members wanting to practice geoscience in Texas, take note. The Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists, created to regulate the practice of geoscience in the state, requires that all applicants for its licenses will have to take an examination, regardless of their experience.

However, the board has established a grandfather period. You have until Aug. 31, 2003, to apply for a license without being required to take an exam. The board must receive the application by then.

From Sept. 1, 2003, onward, all geoscientists practicing in Texas must be licensed by the board.
