U of C Creates New Education Centre
On Civil Engineering, Project Management

The University of Calgary Department of Civil Engineering is offering new continuing education opportunities for engineers and project managers, through the establishment of the Calgary Centre for Engineering and Project Management Education. The fee-based courses, offered in mornings and one- and two-day formats, began in September, with the aim of allowing attendees to broaden their skills and learn more about trends important to their careers.

"The objective of this new initiative is to respond to industry needs in engineering and project management," says a press release from the centre. Initially, the centre is offering two tracks, both of interest to the public and private sectors. The first track is project management courses, the second is civil engineering courses.

The one and two-day courses allow for in-depth examination of a subject and "the opportunity to reflect on subject matter," says the release. Morning sessions are geared to greater variety and scope.

Among upcoming courses are Building Trust on Projects, Nov. 21, and High Performance Project Management, Dec. 4 and 5.
