Greetings from Southern Alberta.

Another busy fall for the Lethbridge Branch got under way on Sept. 27, as 40 members attended our first Lunch and Learn session of the year. All five mayoralty candidates attended this function and spoke to their views on major challenges facing Lethbridge.

A technical tour of SRI Manufactured Homes directed by Ken Josuttes, P.Eng., was held on Oct. 25. It was a fascinating after-hours tour as participants were able to fully explore the manufacturing floor and learn how many engineering skills are required to manage and oversee such complex operations.

The Lethbridge Branch continued its support of local excellence in science and math education at the high school level through the presentation of scholarships in the fall to deserving students. Lethbridge APEGGA volunteers also manned a career fair booth in Taber on Nov. 1. Lethbridge Branch members then hosted visiting high school students at their places of employment on Nov. 20. The annual teachers award was presented to Vince Peters of Immanuel Christian High School.

At a Lunch and Learn session on Jan. 31, Lorne Armstrong presented an informative talk on investing in a low interest rate environment. The 2001-2002 events concluded with a well attended President's Visit on Feb. 26, National Engineering Week activities involving the engineering transfer students at the University of Lethbridge, and our traditional golf tournament held June 21.

The Lethbridge Branch Annual General Meeting was held on June 6,and resulted in the executive. Two new members have been added, Byron Buzunis, P.Eng., and Tony Klauwers, P.Eng. The new branch chair is Adam McDonald, E.I.T, Elisabeth Van Mill, P.Eng. will continue as treasurer, and Mike Van Doorn, E.I.T. is now secretary. The new executive will be gathering to develop a schedule of events for the 2002-2003 year, watch for full details as they become available.

Lethbridge Branch executive would like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers for their work over the last year and the work that they will contribute over the next.
