
If you are going to be practicing engineering and/or geoscience in Alberta, you will need a license to do so. For more information on the licensure system in Canada and Alberta, please refer to Registration in Canada Overview
To be licensed by APEGA, you must:
1. Meet APEGA’s academic requirements.
2. Meet APEGA’s experience requirements including at least one year of equivalent Canadian engineering and/or geoscience experience.
3. Be of good character and reputation.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of law, ethics, and professionalism by passing the National Professional Practice Examination.
5. Meet the English Language Competency requirement.
If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) of Canada and meet all five licensure requirements, you will be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with APEGA.
If you are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) of Canada and meet all five licensure requirements, you will be licensed as a Foreign Licensee (Engineering) or Foreign Licensee (Geoscience) with APEGA.
